Every mile you ride pays for something in Coweta County. Not overhead, not a national office — grants to local nonprofits, scholarships for local seniors, and the fireworks the whole county watches for free.

The short answer
The Tour of Coweta is the Rotary Club of Newnan's largest fundraiser. What it raises does three things: it funds the club's community grants, it pays for scholarships for graduating seniors at every Coweta County high school, and it puts on the July 4th fireworks that nobody pays to attend.
The work is done by volunteers. The Rotarians handing you a banana at a SAG stop are the same people who read the grant applications in November and hand out the scholarships in May.
The grants
Every fall the club opens applications to nonprofits working in Coweta County. Applications run from September 1 to November 1, and a committee of Rotarians reads every one of them.
Since 2010 the club has given $149,001 in community grants to 53 organizations working in Coweta County. Not a selection — here is every one of them:

The scholarships
The Rotary Cup goes to an outstanding graduating senior at each of Coweta County's six high schools. Faculty at each school choose the winner on leadership, citizenship and scholarship, and the student receives an engraved silver Rotary Cup trophy and a cash award — six $1,000 scholarships in 2023. The club's Interact students award a $1,000 scholarship of their own.

One year, in one list
Here is what one year of it paid for. In 2023: the fireworks, six Rotary Cup scholarships, the STAR student luncheon, Interact and its scholarship, Christmas for two ELEVATE students, a year for an international exchange scholar, the hygiene closet at Pathways, the First Responder Awards, fifty kits for the Coweta Samaritan Clinic, the Memorial Day crosses, one hundred Backpack Buddies bags, meals for NEST, an ice maker for the Historical Society's depot, and $10,000 in grants to eleven nonprofits.
Sponsoring the ride puts your name in front of several hundred riders and supports every one of the programs above. See the 2027 sponsorship levels.
