Plan Your
Weekend

Several hundred cyclists gathered in the parking lot beside the brick Coweta County Justice Center at sunrise, with police motorcycle escorts waiting alongside them, at the 2026 Tour of Coweta.

Most of the people who ride the Tour of Coweta do not live here — about seven in ten come from outside the county. Newnan is worth more than a Saturday morning, so here is what to do with the rest of the weekend.

Friday 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Packet pickup, at either Line Creek Reserve on Savannah Street in Newnan or Senoia Bicycle Shop on Main Street in Senoia. Line Creek is a taproom with a patio and food trucks; Senoia puts you on a Main Street worth an evening.

Saturday From 8:00 a.m.

Ride. Starts are paced by speed from the Justice Center, fastest away at 8:00 and everyone rolling by 8:10. Afterward, walk two blocks north to Line Creek for the food trucks.

Sunday Legs permitting

The LINC, the square, or twenty minutes down to Senoia before you drive home.

Two riders stand with their bicycles under a blue and gold balloon arch at the finish, thumbs up, in front of a white columned house.
Two men laughing beside Senoia Bicycle’s sponsor tent at the start line, one holding a road bike, with a repair stand behind them.

Where to stay

The hotels are not downtown.

They sit together out by the Interstate on the Bullsboro Drive and Highway 34 corridor — seven to ten minutes from the start line, and close to Ashley Park for dinner. There is no bed-and-breakfast operating downtown. Closest first.

Use each address exactly as written. Bullsboro Drive and Highway 34 E are the same road, and mapping apps do not always agree about which is which. Camping is a real option too — Chattahoochee Bend State Park has cottages and campsites.

Downtown

The square is a three-minute walk from the start.

It is also the reason people come back.

Historic Coweta County Courthouse

Court Square

The 1904 courthouse the whole square is built around, with a copper dome and a four-face chiming clock. The inside is by appointment, but it is the photograph everyone takes.

Newnan Carnegie Library

1 LaGrange Street

A restored 1904 Carnegie library, now a reading room, gallery and event space open to anyone who walks in. Saturday hours are short.

The City Trolley

Boards at City Hall, 25 LaGrange Street

Free, and it runs Friday to Sunday afternoons between downtown and Ashley Park. On the hour from City Hall, the half hour from Ashley Park.

Eat and drink

All within a block of the square.

Small-town hours move around. Call before you drive, especially on a Sunday.

Leaf and Bean

22 West Court Square

Coffee and breakfast on the square. Open every day.

Brown Street Bodega

22 Jackson Street

Coffee roasted in house, and breakfast. Also trades as Bodega. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Redneck Gourmet

11 North Court Square

A Southern deli that has been on the square a long time. Closed Sunday.

Golden’s on the Square

9 East Court Square

Family-owned Southern cooking, cafeteria style, since 1994. Closed Monday.

The Mad Mexican

2 East Court Square

Mexican on the square. Closed Sunday and Monday.

The Cellar

20 Jefferson Street

Steaks, seafood and a long bourbon list. Dinner only, and closed Sunday and Monday — this is your Friday or Saturday night.

Whimzical Cafe

33 East Broad Street

Cafe and gastropub a block off the square.

Rock Salt Milk Bar

8 East Washington Street

House-made ice cream and cookies. Closed Monday.

Ace Beer Growlers

22B West Court Square

Craft beer to take with you — growler fills, wine and kegs. There is no taproom, so fill up and drink it somewhere else.

Get outside

Bring the other bike.

Or bring whoever is not riding Saturday morning — the LINC starts downtown and runs twelve feet wide and twelve miles long.

The LINC

Trailhead at Farmer Street Park

Newnan’s paved greenway — twelve feet wide, about twelve miles open, starting downtown. The best thing on this page for anyone in your family who is not riding Saturday morning. Leashed dogs welcome.

Brown’s Mill Battlefield

155 Millard Farmer Road

Two hundred acres of Civil War battlefield with four miles of hiking and six miles of mountain-bike singletrack. Bring the other bike.

Chattahoochee Bend State Park

425 Bobwhite Way

Nearly 3,000 acres on five miles of the Chattahoochee. Twelve miles of hiking, 4.3 miles of bike trail, paddling, fishing, and cottages and campsites if you would rather not book a hotel.

Worth the short drive

Twenty minutes, two good towns.

Senoia

19 miles, about 22 minutes

The town where The Walking Dead was filmed, and a genuinely good walkable Main Street either way. Nic & Norman’s, owned by two of the show’s people, is on it, and the Woodbury Shoppe sells the licensed merchandise. Guided filming-location tours run from Main Street.

Moreland

7 miles, about 8 minutes

The Hometown Heritage Museum in the old mill keeps the Erskine Caldwell and Lewis Grizzard collections. Thursday through Saturday, and the Caldwell birthplace on the square is by appointment.

Rain, or a family

Friday afternoon is the museum window.

Saturday hours are short at all three, and you will be on a bicycle for most of them.

McRitchie-Hollis Museum

74 Jackson Street

Coweta and west Georgia history in a 1937 house. Open Saturday until early afternoon.

ChildrenConnect Museum

30 Temple Avenue

Hands-on museum for children, in the 1840 Male Academy building. The answer if you have brought kids.

That weekend

Two things usually land on it.

Neither has published a 2027 date yet, so treat these as likely rather than certain — and check before you plan around them.

Senoia Alive After Five

Third Friday · 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. · Main Street, Senoia

Food trucks, vendors and live music. In 2027 the third Friday is April 16 — packet pickup evening, on the same street as the bike shop handing out packets.

The Coweta Grand Prix

Third Saturday · East Broad Street, Newnan

A gravity-powered soapbox derby run by the Coweta Community Foundation, three years running on the third Saturday of April — which in 2027 is ride day itself.

We will fill this in properly closer to April. Until then, Explore Newnan-Coweta and Main Street Newnan keep the county’s calendars. Note that Market Day is the first Saturday of the month — April 3, 2027, not ride weekend — and the Coweta County Farmers Market runs Saturday mornings, which is exactly when you will be riding.
